UM-D students go to D.C., get locked out of Inauguration

Last Tuesday afternoon, people all over the world tuned in their televisions, radios and computers to watch the historic inauguration of Barack Obama. 1.8 million others made the trip to Washington, D.C., hoping to experience the event in person. Two of these travelers were University of Michigan - Dearborn students, Jason Davis and Rezarta Haxhillari.

Conversation on Race gets to work on stereotypes

Stereotypes and Prejudice. This is what Carmen Van Kerckhove spoke about at Friday's Conversation on Race in Kochoff Hall. The seminar examined the most common racial stereotypes - both positive and negative - and demonstrated how these widespread ideas can manifest themselves in everyday life, especially at work.

UM-D hires hoard of new professors, lecturers for Fall

Next fall semester, students may have a new face teaching their classes. The University of Michigan - Dearborn is currently hiring dozens of new faculty members to replace those that have retired and to fill new positions created by increased enrollment. According to Professor John Clifford, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is planning to hire four new tenure-track assistant professors and two new lecturers.
